Santa Barbara is a copper-gold porphyry that was explored by Rio Tinto in 1995 and 1996. The project is located 4 km west of the old polymetallic mine (zinc, lead and silver) Santa Barbara de Carhuacayan, in the district of the same name in the province of Yauli in the Junin region.
