Volcan Compañía Minera has reached a new milestone in the development of the Romina Project after completing most of the upgrade works at the Alpamarca concentrator plant, a key infrastructure for processing ore from the new mining operation.

This progress enables the start of the plant commissioning process (currently under processing), marking a new stage in the operational integration of Romina and Alpamarca and bringing the project closer to its upcoming start of operations in June.

The Alpamarca plant, with an installed capacity of 2,500 tonnes per day (tpd), is being adapted to process high-grade ore from Romina, enabling optimization of operational performance, maximization of efficiencies, and strengthening of the project’s sustainability.

This new milestone follows the recent completion of the Romina integration tunnel, infrastructure that connects the orebody with the concentrator plant and enables continuous and safe ore transport, consolidating an integrated operating system and achieving high safety standards.

Likewise, tests carried out during this stage confirm metallurgical recovery results and concentrate quality aligned with the project’s projections, reflecting the potential of the orebody and the technical work carried out by the operations, engineering, and construction teams.

Romina employs the sublevel stoping mining method and a Mining 4.0 model based on real-time monitoring and control, aimed at achieving high levels of productivity, efficiency, and operational traceability.

With this progress, Volcan continues to consolidate the development of its main growth project, reaffirming its capability to execute strategic infrastructure and advance toward a modern, efficient operation aligned with the highest standards of the mining industry.

The start of operations at Romina marks a new step in the company’s growth strategy and operational strengthening.
